Revolutions of Digital Age

In the past few months the world has witnessed revolutions that changed the governments, fired presidents, extradited people, started battles and many more. Peoples need for change caused these revolutions to happen.  The expression for need to change caught like wildfire through the internet
26 years old, Asmaa Mahfouz sparked the revolution using the Digital mediums. Two weeks before the 25th January protest at Tahrir Square, she posted a video on a video blogging site about her protest for her rights. Words spread across the Social Media which went viral. The protest gathered a large numbers of supporters through the Digital Media. The world witnessed the power of social media.
The revolution then spread across Tunisia, then to Libya the neighbouring country of Egypt followed by Bahrain and more. The Digital age made these possible by spreading the word for change. The internet which has no national boundaries took the message to various other countries.
The revolution spread through the updates, likes, comments, tweets, retweets, views, shares and replies. Social Networking Site acted as a platform where every person was free to express and being heard. The awareness of the problem was educated to the others to join the movement. Mobile acts as reporting tool through which the current happenings of the revolution are updated and shared from the ground zero. Riots are covered, supports are conveyed and messages are spread
A current occurrence in a Democratic country like India has united to fight against corruption through the Web.  A 72 year old veteran named Anna Hazare started a hunger strike to fight corruption which is gaining moment through the social media sites. Various people around the globe are now aware of the fight against corruption and are joining him through the web from their respective locations.
As a word of caution, people like to support any kind of cause without even thinking or knowing what actually it is. A study conducted recently proved this phenomenon of supporting cluelessly. A Cause for reducing the use of Di-Hydrogen Mono-Oxide which explained various problems by the usage of it like excessive sweating and tiredness was supported by a large number of people. The chemical mentioned above is actually Water. People must be aware of what their supporting.
This Digital Age has changed the revolution and the revolutionaries. The Gettysburg Address by the Abraham Lincoln will suit to the todays Digital Age.
