Scribbled

I got an idea,
so, I studied Media;
Hoping knowledge is gain,
which is full of pain;
There is a lot of numbers,
which come like tremors;

Classes about technology,
affects my psychology;
Often, i have project,
which they always reject;

Groups do presentation,
filled with frustration;
Attending, classes on management,
needed more encouragement;
Sessions on Case Study,
feels like police custody.

They give me assignment,
which ends up in argument.
Each hour there is attendance,
which is like condolence.

Canteen is full of food,
which is of no good.
When there is no AC,
the class goes crazy.

Some time, Internet goes slow;
which becomes a big blow.
We have a few dress codes;
in which we look like bar codes.
The library is full of books;
which no one looks.

No matter what,
its my college;
because, it will
always give knowledge.

India is My Country

India, is my country,
which is not very wealthy;
With a population of Billion and more,
most of them are poor.

We are a faster growing nation,
even at the rate of corruption;
Our memories are very short,
even though we are smart.

The dopamine reached sky,
cause Indian cricket was at a new high;
For Anna, nation united to fast,
after IPL, it did not last.

Twitter Copies Facebook or Not

Twitter has a new home page, what did it think, the sign in looks so much similar to that of the Facebook, it has the same world map image in the background, same sign in type and the same user log in fields in the top right corner. we could see the tweet bird and the twitter font in the left hand side. Just imagine the Facebook home page and replace everything that got to do with Facebook to Twitter. Voila ! you have your twitter page.

For me it looks like an Facebook fan has hacked into the Twitter Server and modified its Homepage. Sorry, Twitter. Next Time try to do something more creative or at least try to change the color of your homepage.  it looks like darker blue is Facebook and dark blue is Twitter.

Future of Web Sites

During a boring day my imagination went on to see what could be the future of websites. Here are few which interested me.

Facebook in 2015
 A Digital clone of my friend, so I can interact with him at my wish. It will be wonderful to hear his status update from his voice on his own digital clone. Instead of comments I will see the entire commentator’s avatars and interact using my own voice responses and expressions. If Facebook where to be used in the coming years then Facebook in 2015 will be cooler than now

Twitter might be using the next to be said internet technology to communicate with the machines called the semantic web. From my Toaster to Car will be following tweeting, and replying to me. Imagine me tweeting “ Feeling Tired “ and my car replying “waiting to take you home” and  takes me home automatically, Air-conditioning cooling my room before I arrive and my Asimov getting me lemonades and replying  back. Twitter in 2020 would be capable of these

Stumbleupon in 2017
 Stumbleupon, Reddit and few more will be providing me more related articles and stuff. They could understand the context of article and my interest and bring up what I will be interested to read and which I will love the most. Stumbleupon in 2017 could be all this

I don’t have to type in another search in Google, I might just ask my digital assistant to get me results for my search through my voice commands. My assistant will then read out the exact result I wanted. Imagine it having AI where it will function as a human in the space of internet. Google could adopt these very soon as they have their own voice recognition search option enabled now. Google in 2015 will have these kinds of search features.
You Tube in 2020
YouTube, will be showing me holographic videos where it would be kind of similar to todays Augmented Reality but through laser projections or Holodecks I would be seeing them in real time. YouTube in 2020 might actually be providing videos like this to me.
Internet will be more sensible and easy to access, it will be a boon to the human kind to learn and love more than we do now.

Creepy "We Dare" - Even for Adults

The game, called “We Dare,” features players doing all sorts of ridiculous gestures, from kissing their remote with a partner to sliding it down their pants to complete various tasks!

Is it a light hearted tone game to unwind the adults or just for fun and chill out type of game or is it an excuse to harass your lady friends. What is it? The game is apparently so racy that the developer refuses to bring it stateside - it’s only available in Europe! Is it even a launch by Ubisoft or Wii? The trailers and rumours spread around in the internet claim so. If then is it really a game? The PEGI rating of 12 for this game makes it even creepier. The trailer is said to be available only in the Europe zone. Famous gaming website IGN has uploaded the video. Even YouTube has region – restriction for the games trailer.

Whether it’s a rumour or a creepy release, let’s wait and watch. Take a look at the trailer, to know more on what I’m talking about.

Piracy is good

Piracy, it scares the people of the entertainment industry. Major chunk of the entertainment industries market share and revenues are affected by privacy. But ask the consumers they would say it is the boon they have got. They can consume their favourite entertainment product anywhere, however they want. There is always a debate whether piracy is good or bad and for whom it’s for?

I belong to the Entertainment Industry as a producer and consumer of entertainment products. “Piracy is Good” is what I would state but in different contexts to the current entertainment industry. When piracy was made illegal people where downloading, when the rules where even more strict nothing changed. The law acted and took down the websites which sooner led to more offspring’s. The awareness about privacy went into deaf ears.

Why is it Good for consumer
“It’s Free”
“It’s Easy”
“I’m Lazy to go out and Buy”
“It’s Eco-Friendly”
“It’s fast”
“It’s Convenient”

Why is it Good for Industry
With or without knowing Napster has spotted the Next market for entertainment products. Apple was the only company to understand and monetise the Napster way. Yes I’m talking about iTunes. It made business out of every type of consumer mentioned above except for “It’s Free”.

Understanding the consumer and the product and then pricing it will definitely encourage people to buy the original content. Let’s assume if I make a content which is not worth a premium pricing and charge it a premium my consumer will definitely would like to watch it for various reasons but not ready to pay that premium price. My content is then pirated and they get to use it for free. If I reasonably price it then I will turn those illegal consumers to legitimate.  No matter what I do those pirates want it for free. Giving the price which my consumer is willing to pay then my content makes money. The business of piracy leads a way for us to understand our consumers. “Piracy is Good “even for me as a producer.

Monetizing Opportunities for Free to Play Games on Cloud Computing

The current gaming market is growing at a rapid. People are playing casual game to hard-core games online; the growth in genre of gaming is itself in a very wide spectrum. The technological improvements  like that of shifting to the cloud service which eliminate the hardware need and enable authentic game play and buying options will make out to be a great revenue generation opportunities for gaming studios present all over the globe . The shareware game model brings the players to buy virtual goods and services instead of the total game. This shareware model can provide a wide view to the game where the limited free to play conditions encourages the users to join and play the game.
The Cloud computing is changing the way through which todays software’s and other applications work. The gaming industry will move on to the cloud computing service to avoid the constant change and upgrade in gaming hardware’s for the benefit of the users and to increase in the sales of its games and to reduce piracy. The shareware games which currently are only on the social game platform with a very low level of computer graphics will have a boost with the switch to the cloud technology.
 High end games which require the latest hardware to play the games will soon be played using various interfaces and websites on the Cloud Computing. Providing the monetizing opportunities for shareware games will encourage players to play the games for free with limitation of various add-ons and personalisation of the game

Trends in Convergence

Digital Cinema
Digital Cinema involves a combination of three phases: digital production or post-production, digital delivery and digital projection for enhanced movie-viewing experience to audiences. Around 10 per cent of about 12,000 movie theatres have turned digital with digital projectors and servers to run digital prints.

Mobile ADS
Mobile Ads are currently text-based and appear along with search results delivered to mobile devices, and they contain either a link to a mobile website or a phone number which users can click on to generate a call. E.g. Google has started testing mobile ads for advertisers in India.

Mobile VAS
The industry (excluding SMS) is thriving on ring-tones and ringback-tones which are the primary revenue drivers. Voice-based and text-based information services are also significant. Mobile music and mobile gaming market is small but expected to grow faster than other services.

IPTV
IPTV is expected to pose a significant challenge to established cable and DTH players with its ‘Triple play’ promise of high-speed Internet, TV (video-on-demand or regular broadcasts) and telephone service over a single broadband connection.

Mobile TV
Mobile TV Works by receiving a digital TV broadcast signal optimized for mobile devices in much the same way as TVs do at home. Various companies are testing Mobile TV through digital video broadcaster-handheld (DVB-H) technology for rollout of services.

Digital Paper and Magazines
The introductions of tablets and smartphones have brought in a culture of digital paper and magazines which are in electronic format for the different platforms at the convenience of the user.

Benefits of Convergence for Entertainment Industry

·         Ability to reach and stay in touch with the consumer

·        Providing various entertainment features from different channels like that of movies, music, TV

·        To keep them informed by providing news articles and news videos on their computers and cell phones

·        Media content creators could take advantage of this opportunity to make content that is specifically designed for consumption on the go

·        Convergence offers unprecedented reporting and marketing opportunities

·        The way that all transmission media become bit-carriers so that different 'network platforms' can carry similar kinds of services

·        The tendency of the previously separate worlds of broadcasting, film, telecommunication, publishing and computing to become involved in each other's business

Interactive Media

In grade-school, if I misbehaved, I was taken out of the group and forced to sit alone, usually facing the wall or corner.  Now that I've grown up and have a computer, where do I find myself? - Out of the group, sitting alone, usually facing the wall or a corner but with the whole world in my hands.

Interactive Media has changed the world around me and it has been a tree of knowledge to me. Interactive and communication technologies are transforming the way we communicate, work, learn, and play. As today's society grows, we develop an understanding of our self in relationship with other people. Our increasing cognitive abilities allow us to take the perspective of others and to understand how our actions produce consequences that can be harmful or beneficial to others. Specifically young people grow in an ever-expanding social environment that includes family, school, and other community organizations. As they interact with others within their social environment, young people gain an understanding of the expectations that are expected for their behaviour.

Parents, teachers, and other important adults are actively involved in the moulding of norms and values that are considered acceptable in the social environment today. Through this process, young people develop a sense of personal identity and values that guide their decision-making and behaviour.

Parents, educators, policy-makers, technology designers, and others require greater understanding of the social dimensions of the use of interactive technologies by people. This understanding will allow for the establishment of policies, strategies, and technology-based environments that will foster the safe, responsible, and beneficial use of interactive technologies by today's society.

Revolutions of Digital Age

In the past few months the world has witnessed revolutions that changed the governments, fired presidents, extradited people, started battles and many more. Peoples need for change caused these revolutions to happen.  The expression for need to change caught like wildfire through the internet
26 years old, Asmaa Mahfouz sparked the revolution using the Digital mediums. Two weeks before the 25th January protest at Tahrir Square, she posted a video on a video blogging site about her protest for her rights. Words spread across the Social Media which went viral. The protest gathered a large numbers of supporters through the Digital Media. The world witnessed the power of social media.
The revolution then spread across Tunisia, then to Libya the neighbouring country of Egypt followed by Bahrain and more. The Digital age made these possible by spreading the word for change. The internet which has no national boundaries took the message to various other countries.
The revolution spread through the updates, likes, comments, tweets, retweets, views, shares and replies. Social Networking Site acted as a platform where every person was free to express and being heard. The awareness of the problem was educated to the others to join the movement. Mobile acts as reporting tool through which the current happenings of the revolution are updated and shared from the ground zero. Riots are covered, supports are conveyed and messages are spread
A current occurrence in a Democratic country like India has united to fight against corruption through the Web.  A 72 year old veteran named Anna Hazare started a hunger strike to fight corruption which is gaining moment through the social media sites. Various people around the globe are now aware of the fight against corruption and are joining him through the web from their respective locations.
As a word of caution, people like to support any kind of cause without even thinking or knowing what actually it is. A study conducted recently proved this phenomenon of supporting cluelessly. A Cause for reducing the use of Di-Hydrogen Mono-Oxide which explained various problems by the usage of it like excessive sweating and tiredness was supported by a large number of people. The chemical mentioned above is actually Water. People must be aware of what their supporting.
This Digital Age has changed the revolution and the revolutionaries. The Gettysburg Address by the Abraham Lincoln will suit to the todays Digital Age.
                                    “Of the People,
                                     By the People,
                                     For the People
